I'm about to throw this computer out the window. As careful as I am I still get infected.

Hello ralph22, welcome to Bleeping Computer!

There's useful information, including "getting started" stuff in the New User Orientation forum, and in the "sticky" topics at the top of forums.
Pleased to have been a Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) 2007/8, 2008/9

I pressed F5, and I'm feeling refreshed...

Even the more careful user can get infected. Please post the details of your problem in the Am I Infected? Forum so our Members can help you. There are also several good discussion threads about keeping your computer secure and virus-free that might suggest additional ways to protect it.
Welcome to BC!
Regards,
John
