Duplicate File Finder Find and delete Duplicate Files on PC

Hi All

Does anyone know of a reliable, bug free, easy to use, free, program for finding and deleting duplicated files on a P.C.

For some reason my last back up program was duplicating files and I want to get rid of them as I am starting to run low on disc space.

I would not be so fast to delete duplicate files, other than data files.

Even though (theoretically) Windows might only require one copy of a given file...programs often install their own copies in exact locations within Windows. Removing such "duplicate files" may result in creation of your own frustration if said apps then do not work properly.

Certainly something to bear in mind.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, it is data files that my back-up program was copying and eating up disc space.
I have 300GB - only 25GB free and, at least 100GB is duplicated files.

I did that once and MAN OH MAN!! (Im glad i had them in recycle bin)

Looking for a way forward,peakpilgrim, I have two thoughts:
1. you really need lots more space on a working drive than about 10%.
2. do you really need immediate hard drive access to all that stuff?

So, as an each-way bet, why not shift a few GB of those duplicates onto a few DVDs? Get rid of maybe 20GB for about $1, but still have them on disk if the shift causes trouble back on the HDD.
