Google announced today that they will consolidate the privacy policies of 60 services and products to just one, uniform policy. They also have stated that their goal is to "trim" the policy so that it's easier to read and understand.

In a related initiative, Google also plans to consolidate and simplify a smaller number of Terms of Service

The changes will go into effect March 1.

Since Google wants to bring together under one umbrella all their services and products, it makes sense to consolidate their terms of use and privacy policies. It makes even more sense to write them in (more or less) plain English.

I've been seeing all these posts of people freaking out about Google sharing their information they have on you across all of their services, rather than keeping them separate. My response was "Wait, they weren't doing this already?"

Thank you for the privacy tools link, its quite useful.
