Started a few months ago, anytime I try putting files on a flash drive (i tried 4 different ones, works on other computers) it first says "Discovering items, Calculating" then starts transferring at only around 1-3 MBPS. It used to transfer at around 25MBPS! Then when I cancel it, it doesn't cancel, and I have to end process and that crashes windows explorer and I have to run a new task for explorer.exe

This only happens with flash drives, not external USB harddrives, or moving files on the same HDD. But transferring from flash to HDD is normal 25MPS speed. WTF?

-Tried difference flash drives
-Different USB ports

System: Windows 7 64bit, Intel Q8300 2.5Ghz, GTS 250 1GB, 6.5GB ram, 750GB HDD.
My other problem here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic439524.html

I would start by running windows error checking tool for each flash drive. Make sure you have a back-up copy off all files on each flash drive. You could try formatting the USB flash drives as another option.

There are no errors. And they don't do this on other computers.

Format one flash drive and check the difference.

Did that, still slow, hangs at "cancelling" and can't close window with ending process when I cancel it, taskbar and icons disappear, have to rerun explorer.exe and cannot click on "Computer" in start menu. Then when I remove the peg, for everytime I tried clicking on "computer", or "my name" in the start menu, all the windows suddenly pop up.

Is there a speed transfer difference on transferring small files to big files on that particular PC? What is the specs(model) and OS of the said computer?

Speed is the same whether it's 1GB of thousands of photos, or mp3s, or a single 1GB video file. On the other hand, when I cancel transfer for the photos/music, it cancels right away without freezing explorer, but canceling the video files freezes and I have to end the process, and restart explorer.exe.

Specs: Windows 7 64bit, Intel Q8300 2.5Ghz, GTS 250 1GB, 6.5GB ram, 750GB HDD. Without the new GPU and PSU it's an Acer Aspire M3802

I mean a gig of file to a 100 MB or less difference. The transfer speed for USB drives are sporadic also in my case. Mostly on flash drives. But I don't practice cancelling as much as possible.

File size or number of files doesnt make a difference in speed.
