If I were to go with the fractal R3 case, would there really be a point in having silent cooling in it? I was thinking of saving some money and going with zalman or something else.

zalman makes some really silent cooling solutions as well. For example the CPU heatsink I have now, the CNPS 10x flex, Is big enough with most CPUs I can use it without any fans at all for complete silence and still retain good cooling on the CPU. Or add up to two 120 mm fans for even better cooling-I have a 120 mm antec fan in it, which is by itself really quiet. but it all depends on how quiet you want it-with any case if you throw in a really loud fan, its going to add noise, its just the nature of the beast.
