Please download DDS from either of these links

and save it to your desktop.

• Disable any script blocking protection
  
• Double click dds to run the tool.
  
• When done, two DDS.txt's will open.
  
• Save both reports to your desktop.

Please download aswMBR to your desktop.

• Double click the aswMBR.exe icon to run it
  
• When asked if you want to download Avast's virus definitions please select Yes.
  
• Click the Scan button to start the scan
  
• On completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop and post it in your next reply.
  
• You will also notice another file created on the desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file in your next reply as well

Thank you for replying. I will try to keep this succinct. It all started with malware, the xp security something. I finally got that eradicated, I think, and then ie8 started acting up. Redirecting my searches, popping up ad websites/pages, etc. I ran spybot, malwarebytes, spyware doctor, TDSSkiller, Ccleaner and of course Hijackthis. So it would seem that I was able to clean my system and then I would boot up the next time, after going home or the next morning and ie8 would be back at it. I even tried to do a system restore (which didn't finish correctly). Now I'm a little crippled, things aren't working right, so I tried to do a Windows repair this morning. IE6 now, . The links you sent for DDS.com, I was able to download, but when the scanner runs, it gets to a point and my computer freezes and I have to manually shut down and reboot. I tried 3 times, once in safe mode, same thing. I've waited once for 5 minutes, 12 minutes and once for 15 for it to finish and it never did.

I was able to download and run the scan for aswMBR. See below for the results of the scan and i've attached the .dat file as instructed also. I did not select fix MBR, didn't see that in your instructions.

I can email, but now I can't get back to system restore, if I try to click on a link in an email a window pops up "Locate Link Browser". Things are not great, obviously. What do you think, where should I go from here? System Restore removed some of my software, so the Hijackthis log is not accurate anymore, I can't run Spyware Dr. or Hijackthis. Malwarebytes will run but it now says it's the trial version. I'm assuming this is because of the failed System Restore.

Any advice is appreciated. I'm just about ready to reformat. What do you think?

Please download TDSSKiller.zip

• Extract it to your desktop
  
• Double click TDSSKiller.exe
  
• Press Start Scan
  
  • Only if Malicious objects are found then ensure Cure is selected
    
  • Then click Continue > Reboot now
  
  
• Copy and paste the log in your next reply
  
  • A copy of the log will be saved automatically to the root of the drive (typically C:\)

• Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

• Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

• Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

• Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.

Ok, I don't know if I can explain this satisfactorily or not, but here goes. I ran Malwarebytes, TDSSkiller, Spybot S&D, Spyware Dr., Adaware and Ccleaner. None of them seemed to help. After I ran and posted my log files for you of aswMBR, my system was so crippled that I did a Windows repair. After that, I booted into safemode and ran Malwarebytes again, it did find something else and I cleaned it off. Since then I've been back to normal. I reinstalled my McAfee and that worked this time and also I've run all the windows updates to get back to IE8 and such. So far so good, right? For me yes.

Then this morning, one of my folks here at the office, had the google search redirect start on his machine as well. Same websites that I was getting. Ughhhh. So now I'm still ok, I've run Malwarebytes on his machine in both safe mode and normal and we ran TDSSkiller as you suggested as well. TDSSkiller found a problem and I chose cure and the reboot hung up. I powered down and let it boot up normally and ran Malwarebytes again, then TDSSkiller. Both said we were clean. So far so good, no redirect out of IE8 google search.

What would you do from here? I really appreciate your time and effort.

also if all the machines connect through a common router - the router may have been hijacked. How many machines are connected?

Try resetting the router:

• This can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router.
  
• Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds).
  
• If you don’t know the router's default password, you can look it up. HERE
  
• You also need to reconfigure any security settings you had in place prior to the reset.
  
• You may also need to consult with your Internet service provider to find out which DNS servers your network should be using.

I suggest running an antivirus and MBAM scan on every machine


Go here to run an online scanner from ESET.

• Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
  
• Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  
• Click Start
  
• When asked, allow the activeX control to install
  
• Click Start
• Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked and the Scan Archives option is ticked.
  
• Click on Advanced Settings, ensure the options Scan for potentially unwanted applications, Scan for potentially unsafe applications, and Enable Anti-Stealth Technology are ticked.
  
• Click Scan
  
• Wait for the scan to finish
  
• When the scan completes, press the LIST OF THREATS FOUND button
  
• Press EXPORT TO TEXT FILE , name the file ESETSCAN and save it to your desktop
  
• Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  
• Press the BACK button.
  
• Press Finish
