My husband dropped his computer and then immediately hit the power button to shut it down. Now when turning it back on it ask me to choose 2 options: 1. safe mode (recommended)
or
2. start windows normally

No matter what I choose it will then immediately shut down. He is running windows 7.

Reason for edit: Moved from Win 7 to Internal Hardware.

I would think of a laptop in your case so you might need to open things up and reseat the hard drive, RAM sticks and network card and cables.

Please post the make and model of the computer.
That information is needed to be more specific.

What happens if you go into the Bios setup program and just let it sit there. Does it still shut down?

Thanks
Roger

My first Computer had a Whopping 16K of memory @ 0.89MHz
My first hard drive held 20 Megabytes and never got filled up.

When the Dell logo appears on the screen Press F2 for the Bios setup
Or press F12 and select the Diagnostics and run at least the Memory tests and hard drive tests.

Good Luck
Roger
