system restore unable to use system restore

I am trying to restore my computer to a recent time when several of my programs worked. But when i use system restore, it always says it is unable to restore to date selected.

Does anyone know how to fix this. I using windows xp

Hi and Welcome to BleepingComputer,

Ofter times one has to try many, many, many dates in system restore before finding one that works. Keep tying different dates, you will probably find one that works.
