Samsung Series 7 or Dell Precision m4500

Hi I need help choosing a new laptop. I am starting the 3rd year of my engineering program this coming term and would like to get a new or possibly used computer (anything is better than my 7 year old Inspirion). It will mainly be used for class assignments which will probably involve some use of CAD, Solid works or similar programs that being said however it will probably get a fair amount of muti-media using as well. I narrowed my choices down to a Dell Precision m4500 or a Samsung Series 7. If these 2 choices aren't sufficient I could probably splurge for a Apple Mac book Pro although I admittedly have a fear of Macs.

Between those two, I would go for the samsung. Honestly, neither are high on my list of computers to recomend-but I tend to avoid DELL like the plague, I have a lot of dealings with dell, and while some of their computers seem decent, others are trash, and regardless of the situation their customer support for when things do go wrong is a royal nightmere to deal with. I do run a small computer business, and while I do repairs on all brands, I also work with customer support on several brands (cuz they all have some lemons) I tend to prefer the brands that not only have decent computers, but quality customer service, and dells always lacked in that department.

Macs are way to overpriced and you have to be sure if they are compatible with your software's.

Have you looked at Thinkpads or Toshibas?

My first Computer had a Whopping 16K of memory @ 0.89MHz
My first hard drive held 20 Megabytes and never got filled up.

Apple Mac Book Pro owners seem to have issues running my mentioned programs so I guess that option is out the window. However both the Dell 4500 and the Samsung Series 7 should be able to handle the programs especially the M4500 since it is configured for Auto CAd and the like. Although now I am wondering since I am going to be using this for the next 4-5 years wouldn't it be better to get a Dell m4600 or a m6600. Money is a bit tight but I should be able to manage by working another week before leaving for school. If not a week or 2 of pasta for every meal has never killed anyone.
