We Need to Diagnose Your BlueScreen
- When you boot your machine, press F8 to list the startup options, exactly as you would if you were trying to enter Safe Mode
- Select "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure", as shown here:
- When your system BSODs, write down the STOP error code, as well as any written out error message back here. The STOP error will always appear, but the message may not. You are looking for this:

Please post me the error(s).

I have a couple of developments to share.
first, my attempt at adjusting the time-out setting with f8 failed. i don't have the option available.
it only asks me what op system to boot to. I only have xp.
Of course I could'nt then access the BSOD's
second, quite unbelievably, as I was trying fkey strokes a roxio restore app popped up. I used it to restore to previous setting then change my config to boot in safe mode. Now I can boot in safe mode but there is obviously some damage that has been done.
I'm hoping we can access the diagnostics you were looking for through another route.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
- Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
- Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
- A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
- Notepad will open with the results.
- Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
- Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Try this please. You will need a USB drive.
Download GETxPUD.exe to the desktop of your clean computer
- Run GETxPUD.exe
- A new folder will appear on the desktop.
- Open the GETxPUD folder and click on the get&burn.bat
- The program will download xpud_0.9.2.iso, and upon finished will open BurnCDCC ready to burn the image.
- Click on Start and follow the prompts to burn the image to a CD.
- Remove the USB & CD and insert it in the sick computer
- Boot the Sick computer with the CD you just burned
- The computer must be set to boot from the CD
- Gently tap F12 and choose to boot from the CD
- Follow the prompts
- A Welcome to xPUD screen will appear
- Press File
- Expand mnt
- sda1,2...usually corresponds to your HDD
- sdb1 is likely your USB
- Click on the folder that represents your USB drive (sdb1 ?)
- Press Tool at the top
- Choose Open Terminal
- Type the following and press enter:
dd if=/dev/sda of=mbr.bin bs=512 count=1
- Press Enter
- After it has finished a file will be located on your USB drive named mbr.bin
- Remove the USB drive and insert it back in your working computer and navigate to mbr.bin, zip it up and attach it to your next reply.
This will allow me to have a look at the MasterBootRecord of your drive and see if it is infected.

COMBOFIX
---------------
Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:
- Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. (Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive.)
- Double click on Combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
- As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
- Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
