My budget for the new computer is: $599 up to $899.

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)? It's going to start to replace the normal functions of my Acer Aspire, which I do everything on. Internet, gaming, music, work, school, etc. I'm going to start separating tasks in-between other electronics (PS3, iPod or an iPhone) to lessen the wear and tear.

What software do you intend on using on the computer? It depends on what OS I'm forced to use. Things compatible with Windows 7 or OS X Lion, those seem to be the new thing. I like freeware and cross-compatibility between different types of computers for basic stuff like word processing and media files, but other than that I'm flexible. I want to start either working or going to school online as well as starting doing like Let's Plays on youtube and stuff.

Do you play games? If so, what type of games? I play causal games. Puzzle games, adventure games. Not too demanding on the requirements. I have a proper gaming console (PS2) for bigger games, respectively.

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it? I like to multitask. Play music, surf web, download stuff, scan system files...

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer? Not really. I have separate places to store my stuff.

Suggestions? I better with PCs than Macs but I'm willing to adjust.

Good deal for the quality. It's great. Probably one of the best laptops out there currently.

It lacks a dedicated graphics card.

You DON'T NEED a dedicated graphics card...It has 1.7 gigs of shared memory. Why waste all that battery life? At least you could've stated you need a ded graphics card in your desciption.

1.7GB shared memory does not mean it will run the game optimally. It uses integrated graphics which isn't suitable for games. Puzzle games like Portal, which to play at 60 FPS or higher is the sweet spot. If your gonna game there are some things you have to sacrifice like battery life.
