BleepingComputer.com: Continuation of TDSS / Google Redirect Issue

Laptop got the security fix virus and notes that the hard drive was failing. Did system restore and removed Avast Free and installed Norton Internet Security 2012. Believe the virus came through a java SDK that was out of date. Tried Malwarebytes and Emsisoft to clear Firefox and IE search engine redirects. Malwarebytes caught nothing and Emsisoft found a few things that were cleared. Updated Adblock on Firefox and added the add-on NoScripts to keep it from redirecting, but now Firefox is corrupt and crashes on start up (even after removal and install.

Now still have the redirect issue. Catalyst Control Center crashes (AMD video card) even upon reinstall. Firefox is corrupted and crashes on opening (Safe mode crashes as well).

Ran DDS and it took about 10 minutes. DDS.txt posted below. Attach.txt is attached

Didn't run GMER because my Windows 7 is 64-bit.

As a follow-up, I got impatient and kept searching for a solution. I had run rkill.exe, malwarebytes, gmer, emsisoft, advanced system care and norton power essentials with no success. However, I did try and run tdsskiller, but couldn't get it to run. I found a post on Kaspersky's forums with someone who had the same problem. Kaspersky personnel acknowledged the problem and that the rootkit (which i've since discovered is: rootkit.boot.sst.a) prevents tdsskiller from running.

The post below contains two files that have temporary fixes for the rootkit blocking tdsskiller. I ran the 2nd one as administrator and it found and identified the rootkit and removed it.

Presto, everything is back to normal. Firefox and Google Chrome are back and everything is functioning normally. I hope that the files below are able to help you with other cases of infections.

My occupation is in IT and I have never experienced such a hard-to-solve problem as this one. I wasn't too far away from reloading Windows 7 completely. Thank you for your exhaustive help!
