As an American veteran I find this sort of comment disheartening. But I have and will fight for your right to say it. I have witnessed first hand oppressive regimes where voices such as yours would be silenced just for having an opinion. Our country may not be perfect but it is one where we still enjoy freedoms.
The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.

Animal, I too am a vet. Company A, First Battalion, 69 infantry out of New York. MOS was 32 Bravo. It doesn't matter if the very thing that we have fought to preserve, is being usurped by the very people we elect to uphold our freedoms. You like I, swore an oath to protect this country against enemies both foreign and domestic, and if the very basic freedoms of the people, for the people, by the people are being threatened than it is not only my right as a vet but as a citizen of this Great Nation to speak-out and be heard. I don't know what you took from my opinion, but if we allowed these small bits of our constitutional rights to be swallowed up, we soon shall possess none. Remember "If You Give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a glass of milk." I apologize if I have offended you, but not for my comment.

You are totally correct jgweed. that is why so many people, from all over the world have sent letters, Emails, there's been a shut down day, with sites such as Wikipedia, Google, and many more actually shutting down for a day in protest to the SOPA Bill.
I've kind of become distracted with other issues, but of course this issue is alive, and dangerous.
You can see the letter from High level Technical people from all manner of sites suggesting that DNS will collapse if what is proposed goes ahead, so I feel personally that it will be impossible to pass the ACT as it is.
In the meantime, Megaupload has been taken down by the FBI, their servers seized, I don't have time to post a link but you would quickly find one. Point being with this second issue, solely a FBI matter, millions of legitimate files owned by good people who may wish to access a Host Site for business, or whatever have had their files seized.
Once, as we all are told when signing to be a member let's say of Bleeping Computer.com, you have to accept the TOS Terms of Service, or as I just looked, Terms of Use. Once you have checked that box, you are responsible for your actions, not bleepingcomputer.com.
So, in the case of Megaupload being shut down it is legally the people who have broken the terms of service agreement with Megaupload that are at fault.
Yeah, of course these file hosting sites know people will abuse the TOS, but in reality, and under the law they aren't liable, in fact it would be impossible to check the content of every file uploaded, so bit of a stalemate there in this case for the FBI.
As a Malware removal site we all realise the truth teacher's of the Removal and teaching Forum specify, about dangers online, P2P programs, but with these 'Let's cleanup the Internet' proposals going on in the U.S. currently we can see how difficult such a move would be. Pandora's Box comes to mind.
I'm in no way condoning 'Cloud' computing, which essentially those File Host sites are, or the SOPA (Stop online Piracy Act), it is however interesting to see the efforts of authorities not just in the U.S. but worldwide to cleanup the Internet.
We've all heard of the 'Great Firewall of China', or maybe not. The Government in China blocks all sites it deems a threat to their communist policies, often Google, as it can then contain the knowledge that it's population has.
