Hi,

Is it still the same error message in BSOD? Doesn't system stay on even in safe mode or if tried those earlier tricks you were able to keep it running?

yes, in safe mode it runs without error. the error code on the BSOD Vvaries but often is the same. combofix will not run in safe mode nor can i get mcafee to enable "real time scanning"

I am thinking on using a spare harddrive & reinstalling windows & using the original hdd as a slave. Is this a smart option or should I not give up on the install of my os?

If that's possible then it would probably be the safest option to reinstall Windows on that spare harddrive, copy important stuff from original hdd while plugged in as slave and then reformat the original hdd.
