Mozilla Firefox Profile Missing

A month or so ago when I tried to load Mozilla Firefox I got the message 'your firefox profile cannot be loaded, it maybe missing or inaccessible.

I have looked online for a solution, it seems to be a common problem, but I need a solution in easy language. My computer knowledge is OK but most of the solutions baffled me a little.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that doesn't work.

I'm running Windows Vista.

Can anyone help?

Uninstall Firefox completely following this manual: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Install fresh copy.
