I wonder if anyone could help me. I am running windows xp on home computer but two days ago i pressed a button in the task manager process window. I now cannot access the internet at all google chrome . also many of the other progs simply do not start. I system restored once but now I cant do that either. Computer is starting up as normal but not letting me do anything. is there anything I can do to repair the damage i have caused?. strangely it will let me use outlook express but not internet.

Can you tell us what "button" you pressed and what prompted your actions? IME, it takes more than a button-press to do anything in Task Manager.
We need as much accurate info as possible...to try to determine what you have done and how to overcome whatever it is.

My experience is...ending any process via Task Manager...is erased when the system reboots. All processes which previously ran...begin anew.
I know of nothing in Task Manager that will prevent a reboot/restoration of the system...as it existed prior to opening Task Manager.
