XP Won't Connect To The Internet

I was having the same issue after removing some malware. In my case the DHCP client would not start even though it was set to automatic. After trying to start it manually I received a ERROR 1075. This website helped me fix the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915162
I followed the instructions and deleted the dependency from the registry.
