Microsoft Security Essentials "You haven't run a scan in a while"

Hey all,

A problem with my MSE has come up about a month ago on my main PC, running Win7 64-bit.

The problem is, more than once a day, the MSE tray icon turns orange and a message says "You haven't run a scan in a while. Please run a quick scan now.". This message comes up very often, even after I run the scan, and restart my PC. I have the scheduled scan disabled on all my computers, but this problem only happens on this one. I have tried re-installing MSE, but nothing seems to help.

I use MSE on all my computers, a combination of XP and 7, and have never had this issue on anything else. I love MSE and would prefer not to switch to another anti-virus.

You receive error: "You haven't run a scan on your computer for a while.

I could understand an Antivirus product installed alongside as being the problem, but it doesn't make sense that other malware scanners or other scanners would be.

@Chromebuster The reason that other malware tools and cleaners could be suspect is because as CCcleaner has discovered they remove the files that track MSE's last run event.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am currently running MSE with Superantispyware and Malwarebytes (both free editions). I install these on all my computers, as well as CCleaner. I did the CCleaner fix from the MS link, and so far the message hasn't popped up yet.

Hopefully that fixed the problem. Thanks guys for the help
