My Avast was compromized.Can you suggest a better free Antivirus.Is Bit Defender any good?

Reason for edit: Moved from Win 7 to AV, Firewall, etc.

Hello, do you mean you need to reinstall it?

We have a list of free Antivirus' here L@@K.

If you are going to change, Download the new one and save it ti the desktop.
Next uninstall,reboot and install the new one. I preferred Avast and Avira over BitD... but it's more what works for you.

How did it compromised
Did a virus infect the machine or the antivirus Process ?
