BleepingComputer.com: FATAL ERROR C0000034

On my msi laptop I have the following message:

Fatal error C0000034 applying update operation 197 of 115301 (_00000..)

It was doing as the message states applying an update when the problem developed.

How do I get past this? How do I do the restore to an earlier point? Would that help? I just don't remember how to do it?

Hi kcsummer,

Reboot, before the Windows logo tap the F8 button..The link below will guide you through starting in safe mode
Start your computer in safe mode

When in safe mode..click start..type system restore..click on system restore and follow the prompts

You can also try the option 'Last Known Good Configuration'
Using Last Known Good Configuration

This is a fairly common problem when installing Service Pack 1 on Windows 7.

There is a supposed update fix for this: An update that prevents a "0xC0000034" error message when you try to install Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is available
