Back in June, CNet's Download.com started bundling their downloads with a "Download Installer." This is not really news, in fact we've talked about it here before. The news today, however, is the reaction by many to a mailing list posting by the developer of Nmap, an open source security tool who chastised Cnet for violating both user trust and the Nmap distribution license.

With that post, scores of other commentators, from security experts to tech journalists, launched their own condemnation of Cnet and it's downloader.
