I recently got rid of a nasty virus similar to this, so i'm not sure if that one left this virus behind. The virus is "windows security center" or something, and the process in taskmanger reads it as "OWQ.exe", since every time i end that process the windows for the virus disappear. I ran a scan in Spybot search'n destroy, but no luck. I tried to run Malwarebytes, but every time i tried to run it the virus (fake security) started to run again as well and prevented me from running malwarebytes. So, i'm running windows xp (sp3) in safemode at the moment...and to my demise i still can't run malwarebytes because the virus is preventing me from doing so. strange enough i can do everything else just fine...at the moment, at least.

what should i do to get rid of this virus/malware?

There is a link at the top of the Am I Infected Forum that discusses rKill try and use it prior to running Malwarebytes.
