I have an older XP system with SP-3 installed. I just upgraded my MB from IDE to mostly SATA, except for the old HD. ((Because my new MB-[[-MSI H61MU-E35/H61M-E23]] is all SATA & no IDE connects, I had to get a PCI card [[SIIG-UltraATA 133 PCI]] to plug my old HD into))) It powers up but says "NTLDR is missing"...I've tried to boot to the original XP disc/CD but neither the "R" recovery consule nor the "Windows Install" will work because it says it can't find my HD yet the BIOS says it's there. Can the BIOS know the HD is there but the system doesn't??
I've up graded my CPU to Intell i3 Processor [[i3-2100/LGA 1155]]...
Any suggestion/ideas welcome....
Now what????

You problem is because WinXP Installation Disc doesn't have SATA Chipset Driver and you need to slipstream / adding SATA Driver and create a custom WinXP Installation Disc.

For Sata Driver, you could use read on Integration of Intel's SATA AHCI and RAID drivers Guide and help for XP and W2k3 (32/64bit) and try use driver from Fernando.
