BleepingComputer.com: mouse cursor & keyboard hesitation

For the past few days on my '09 iMac with 24" screen running Leopard the wireless mouse cursor (this is the newer model that replaced the original) has not been scrolling smoothly; picture an escalator as opposed to climbing down a step ladder, kind of a clunky movement. Additionally when I type there is a hesitation before the letters show up on the screen. I ran MacScan 2 a day or two ago but this problem seems to have begun before that. I was going to reset Safari 5.0.6 but I want to ask for advice here first. The keyboard hesitation doesn't seem to happen on Pages. Suggestions?

Stupid questions first...have you tried rebooting?

Which mouse are you using (Magic, Mighty, etc.)?

Yes, I turn the machine off every night. The mouse is the newer one without the wheel in the center, I think it's the magic one. Thanks for replying Ninja.

Also make sure you have all the updates installed. Try Unpairing the mouse and re-pairing it with the computer.

Also make. Sure the mouse has fresh batteries.

Hiya xpds. I've had this 'new' mouse for ~1 1/2 years, it replaced the one with the wheel in the center, I didn't know about the scrolling with Snow Leopard though. I have all the updates so I'll try unpairing it. Been using rechargable batteries for about a year & usually get a warning on the screen when it's time to replace them. Don't seem to be losing their charge any faster than usual, but maybe it's time to buy 4 new rechargables, I'll try that too. Thanks for the suggestions.

I have a magic mouse and don't use it, one because it is terrible with minecraft and two because I didn't like it to much, mostly because of the lack of ergonomics.
