xp re-install issue

I recently wipped my computer and installed a old version of XP and now I have no internet .. or sound .. Im using some smc usb wireless card .. but am unable to set up a wireless conection (or even know how to ) seems XP dosent have a wireless option that i can find ..any help would be great a walk tru would be even better .. im horrible with computers and have been trying to get mine back online for over a month to no avail will post any info requested.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

The drivers need to be reinstalled.
Whats the make/model of the system?

Also whats the model of the SMC wireless card?
It should be printed on the device somewhere

um I dont know what the system is .. how can I tell? .. and the wireless card just says

SMC EZ Connect g 802.11g wireless 2.0 Adapter

Is the computer a tower or laptop?

Please look on the front or side and see if it says Dell, HP, Compaq or anything that identifies the manufacturer.
Then look of a model number on a sticker somewhere. If the system is a laptop the sticker is on the bottom.

We need this information to get you the correct drivers for your system

Its a tower .. but it made of random parts .. I know its a semprom x64 on a k8m800 micro amd board thats all I can find

Here is a link for your drivers. Install the chipset first then video, audio, LAN,and USB 2.o controller. Install the chipset first then the order of the rest really doesnt matter.

For the wireless adapter please check for a model number on it. It should start SMC followed by more letters.
Its printed on there somewhere but it might be pretty small.

Here they are but I would do them last.
Disconnect the device from the system while you install all the rest then get the driver from the SMC site.
Dont plug the adapter into the system untill the installer prompts you to.

This is still not working .. I downloaded the drivers and transferred them with a flash drive to the computer .. installed them .. and nothing fixed even after reboot

What happens when you try to install the chipset drivers?
That is the one you want to do first.

It appears that the files are in self extractin an executable format.
SHould be a simple matter of double clicking on them to get them to install

when I click the chipset driver .. winzip self extractor pops up .. then just goes away .. IDK if its installed or not .. then to the on-boad VGA driver .. install sheild opens the i get a box that says

setup was unable to complete installation. check the progress log in you windows directory for more details. 9-(-1)->C:\WINDOWS\s3iscfg.log

How did you go about doing that?

Did you delete the partition and recreate it as part of the installation process?
Then format the drive?

Did you boot to a genuine XP cd to do this?

Sound to me like there are remnants of a previous install on the drive
