Ipod Nano won't sync

Hello all,

I am hoping someone can help me out. I have an Ipod Nano(several yrs old) that will not sync. When I plug the USB cord in, the Ipod will charge, however I cannot get it to sync. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

P.S. The latest version of Itunes is installed
