When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Last night, I got infected with XP Security 2012. It said my laptop was at risk, my firewall was turned off, and that I shouldn't continue because it was unsafe. The virus then proceeded to block my access to the internet so I had use my desktop to search up info on the virus and a removal method for said virus. I found a link associated with bleepingcomputer: (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-antispyware-2012), and proceeded to follow the directions thoroughly. I believed I was free of the XP Security 2012 Virus, despite the facts that my computer was uncharacteristically slow and that my laptop would freeze when I'd try to get into Stand By mode.

I went to sleep anyway, and when I awoke this morning, things hadn't changed. Mozilla was freezing up and crashing constantly, and I decided to open Windows Task Manager and see what's up. I saw the process "ping.exe" and clicked end process, and it disappeared. Everything seems to have returned back to normal, but one can never know for sure. Is there anything I can do to make sure both XP Security 2012 and Ping.exe has been completely flushed out? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
