Bios screen stops loading, on daily start-up my Dell c521

98% of the times I start up my Dell Dimension C521 desktop the Start up page(F2 and F12 Bios page), freezes at the middle of the "progress" bar.
I have to manually shut off the computer and wait about 20 secs. then re-start. Once I do that puter finishes start up. This also happens when I download a program and it needs the puter to be restarted
ANY HELP with this would be great,

I suggest taking a look inside to see if any of the capacitors have gone bad. Examples can be found at www.badcaps.net
They can cause that problem as well as instability when windows does load.

My first Computer had a Whopping 16K of memory @ 0.89MHz
My first hard drive held 20 Megabytes and never got filled up.

Also you might try reseating the hard drive cables on both the drive and motherboard end. Maybe you have a bad connection. Disconnect and reconnect them.

Any lockups when you are using the system?

In the beginning there was the command line.
