BleepingComputer.com: suspiciously slow system

Symptoms: when browsing the internet there is a suspicious sluggishness, particularly noticeable when using the scroll bar, even when using nimble browsers like K-Meleon, IQ, Green Browser, etc. Even when using large browsers like Mozilla, I have 150MB of RAM available. So, I have ruled out a memory issue. When not browsing and using programs like MS Word, Windows Explorer to search for files, Acrobat reader, etc, the sluggishness persists.

Steps taken: I have run Malawarebytes, Spyware Terminator, and Glary Registry Repair, CC Cleaner, but no noticeable change. My anti-virus is AVIRA detected a file that cannot be opened.

What should I do?

Hello losduarte Please do the following.


1.Uninstall these programs.
Free Window Registry Repair (useless)
Glary Registry Repair 3.3.0.852 (useless)
Java™ 6 Update 25 (outdated) Get fresh copy here after uninstall.

Spybot - Search & Destroy (useless)
Spyware Terminator (resource hog)

2.Disable these from starting with windows.With ccleaner (which i see you already have installed)
[Synchronization Manager] mobsync.exe /logon
[DadApp] c:\program files\dell\accessdirect\dadapp.exe
[TomcatStartup 2.5] c:\program files\hewlett-packard\toolbox\hpbpsttp.exe

[SunJavaUpdateSched] "c:\program files\common files\java\java update\jusched.exe"

After completing the above task then Please download TFC by Old Timer and save it to your desktop.

Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it.If TFC doesnt prompt a reboot then please do so manually

Also hit start button in lower left hand corner. Then in the run box type msconfig, then hit the services tab then hit put a check mark in hide microsoft services what is listed there,after hiding microsoft services?


Another thing you will NEED to do is defrag your machine. (reviewed logs again saw that have defraggler you may disreguard this but will leave it someone else may find this info useful)
Use this just decline installing anything else like toolbars or web browsers only install the defrag software.

Hello InadequateInfirm, thank you for those detailed suggestions. I will do that and check back in with the results. As for anti spyware and/or anti-virus protection, what will I use? All my best.

Hello, my computer is working better. What added steps should I take? I have no anti-virus on the computer as I was getting load errors.

You have Avira as your antivirus. mRun: [avgnt] "c:\program files\avira\antivir desktop\avgnt.exe" /min


Occasional scans with malwarebytes and superantispyware.Also if you somehow do not have avira.Then make sure it is not in the add remove programs.If not then install avast free.

Open command prompt and type chkdsk /r follow the prompts and then reboot.
