:P Hi Everyone,

I want to send individual break messages via a dos command line, using the host name of clients running OS's from XP - Windows 7. I have the host name required for each client.

Also will need to send a message to linux thin clients of type HP T5125 - T5145 and wyse.

What's the most efficient way to send a break message to the host name when the client/recipiant of the message may not have had any features enabled to receive messages as is required by Net send etc.

Grateful if you can also provide command line examples of how your recommendation can be implemented.

Many thanks/regards,
@

Ok,

To send messages to windows machines the messenger service needs to be enabled. Net send is the easiest way of doing it.

On linux machines you will need to have samba installed try.

smbclient -M hostname message

if that works and as long as linux is configured the same way as on the windows domain/work group it will behave just like windows.

Hope this helps
