I know what the fileresearchcenter is. I also know it can be one of the FF plug-ins. All of a sudden it is on my computer and is not in my FF plug-in list. Where did I get it and how do I get rid of it? Could that have been what redirected my isp homepage? That also is something I would never have downloaded or installed. Thanks
Jann

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
- Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended) - Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
- Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
- Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
- Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
- Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

- GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
- If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
- Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
- When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
- Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
- Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.
IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again.
If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.
If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

Are all those programs to find out about fileresearchcenter? I have and did run MalwareBytes and it was a clean run with full scan. I also ran Avira Antivir and Super Anti-spyware and they found nothing. How I found that filesearchcenter was, after I clear my cache in FF, I always go to Windows Explorer to my profile and get rid of all the temp stuff in there. It was full with this. I have a rootkill program and detector but didn't think it necessary. I found the problem in Netscape, they failed to tell the users that it is now necessary to take off www. Jerks. Had to call India.
Since I have been on here for some time now, I once again went into Windows Explorer and there are no instances of filesearcher. I was on IE for just a few seconds to see if my Netscape issue happened there, I wonder if that is where I picked that up. I am downloading those programs and will run and post in here. Thank you so much!
You guys are the best!!!

No. Just a note: I fixed a laptop that had an ugly virus that acted like octopus legs, it was horrible. That is why I have that Rootkill program. IE didn't put it there. I have no idea how it got there before. Leave this thread up until tomorrow just in case it comes back, ok? Is that fileresearchcenter malware or adware or what? I don't like those kinds of surprises interrupting my day!! LOL
