BleepingComputer.com: Av Security 2012 attack

Last night I was watching a movie on TV and normally when I do that I run a virus scan or Maleware scan since I know I will not be using the PC. I used Avira Free Antivirus and it came back clean. When The movie finished I did a little bit of browsing and talking to friends and all of a sudden AV Security 2012 came up and started running and WinPatrol and Avira started popping up with messages. Once I got AV Security 2012 to stop running I ran SUPERAntiSpyware and it found and cleaned up AV Security 2012 as well as some other Trojan. I then googled AV Security 2012 and found the guide on this website and followed it and ran MalewareBytes which picked up 4 more infected files. Now I want to make sure that I am gone for good of these Trojans and AV Security 2012. Along with the DDS and GMER I also supply the SUPERAntiSPyware and MalewareBytes logs in case they can be of any help:

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

• Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • DDS.scr
    
  • DDS.pif
  
  
• Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  
• A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  
• Notepad will open with the results.
  
• Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  
• Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

As I am just a silly little program running on the BleepingComputer.com servers, please do not send me private messages as I do not know how to read and reply to them! Thanks!

1. Late Friday night while browsing the internet and playing League of Legends with some friends AV Security 2012 popped up on my screen and started going nuts. Also Winpatrol was warning me of multiple programs trying to be added into my startup. My computer basically locked up from all the things being open and I started up into safe mode. The first thing I did was run SUPERAntiSpyware(log in original post) and it found a few things then I went onto my laptop and googled AV Security 2012 and found the guide on this website to remove it. I followed the instructions and ran Malwarebytes(log in original post) and it found a few other things and removed it. After that I ran virus scan with Avira and it came up clean. Then I followed that up with posting a thread here to ask for additional support on removal of the virus.

Since posting the log I have not logged into any websites other then this one and the only video game I logged into is League of legends. I have also been running Malwarebytes and Avira almost daily to see if they pick up anything. Thus far all the scans have been coming up clean and of course once I get someone to respond to this I will only run scans they request of me.

Other then that the issues I have noticed from my pc are as follows:

- A few weeks back I started having some driver issues with my video card. Occasionally when I would boot up I would just get a black screen and my monitor would just show up as going into power save mode after the windows loading screen. Rebooting my system usually fixed this problem right away. I figured I mention this though just incase it has anything to do with any malware though I figured it to either be a driver issue or hardware issue.

- After the AV Security 2012 attack I checked all my applications to see if they were working and the only thing that was not working is Windows Defender I am getting "Application failed to initialize: 0x80070006. The handle is invalid" I don't know if this means the malware is still on the pc or just something that got damaged in the attack and removal of the virus. If it can be fixed I'd appreciate it if not then it's not a big deal since I find Malewarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware to be better.

Other then that I am not experiencing any issues thus far.
