I need advice on upgrading an AMD 64x2 3800+ with 2.00 GHz, 896MB RAM. This system gets slower and slower as my operating system (WinXP) and software get upgraded. It is dual core but I have another system with a single AMD 64 3800+ with 2.41GHz, 992MB RAM that is faster. The dual core is limited to the 2.0 GHz RAM. These systems are only used for office work but the boot process and larger programs (Outlook and Virus software) really bog it down. Any advice is appreciated :)

I would strongly upgrade the ram first and see how that goes before we jump in upgrading the processor as you have a AM2 socket and it is quite hard to find a AM2/+ processor nowadays. If your looking for more speed in the processor, you could try overclocking it to a higher frequency but there are some risks to overclocking.
