Hi there

I am new here, and am not very tech-savy.

I have a relatively new MacBook Air and made the mistake to not install an antivirus and enable the firewall. Now I have a redirect problem when I open links through google searches, I get redirect to clothesdryerstore.com. This happens both in safari and firefox. I did some searching and installed an antivirus, enabled the firewall and tried a rootkit virus search programm but to no avail.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

any help appreciated and thanks in advance

hi,

thanks for your suggestion - I did as you suggested but nothing came up. from what I understand this is not just a regular virus but a rootkit virus and you need to get rid of it through special software. the problem is that all the info I found is for windows.

I see this is recommended. Rootkit Hunter
I suggest you back up any important files first.
