Unwanted Guest Can't Erase A File

Hello, MBC Friends! I just uninstalled a piece of software, but an APPLICATION EXTENSION FILE (.dll) was left behind. When I try to erase it, Windows tells me that the action can't be taken because the file is STILL OPEN in WINDOWS EXPLORER and in order to erase it I must CLOSE THE FILE. What file do I close and how do I close it? Can anyone please tell me how to erase this unwanted guest? Thank you.

hello ,try rebooting computer ,then hitting f8 on reboot go to safe mode and try deleting it there ,

If Windows indicates that a file cannot be deleted because it's in use...I just go to Task Manager and terminate the service related to that file. Then delete it.

A reboot will restart the service (if it's necessary by other files) but the file related to it is gone.

Thanks, Guys! Sorry it took so long to respond. I found a way to remove the file about a half hour after making this post and never bothered to check for responses. I really appreciate your suggestions and will save for future reference. Thanks again. :thumbup2:
