BTW don't buy based on appearance. The DDR3 I've used works just fine and runs cool with just the bare memory chips. The last memory I know of that demanded a heatsink on it was RamBus. They ran hot.

Was mainly looking at Corsair because that seemed to be what most people rely on. But I'm getting the impression it may be for the very reason you mentioned.

Yeah I'm just gonna have to keep looking at motherboards. Kingston doesn't even offer a look-up for ASRock. Maybe if I just go cheap on the motherboard I'll go ahead and buy a GTX580, since AMD has trouble with certain games anyway, games which I specifically want to play on this rig.

The mainboard is the heart of the computer, too cheap and it may not be stable or it may not be long lived.

Along with the power supply which needs to feed stable and clean power to the motherboard.

Memory comptability is also important, marginal memory can lead to weird issues.

How about http://www.crucial.com/ they do cover Asrock motherboards.
My first Computer had a Whopping 16K of memory @ 0.89MHz
My first hard drive held 20 Megabytes and never got filled up.

Maybe I should just ask this. Which motherboard company has the best customer service and will always make good on the warranty? I think I can guess, but try me.

I guess I'm looking for a middle of the road board. But I'm going to have to not cut back on the GPU. Rage and Saints Row the Third are among games that aren't optimized well for AMD. It's not like I absolutely need to stay on budget, I just wanted to because I hate wasting money.

I usually use ASUS motherboards.

They can be Picky about memory.

They have 3 or 5 years warranty depending on the model.

The Motherboard in My latest computer and in the one I did for my Brother are Asus.

They were not the fastest when I did a Warrantry for a friend, however they will most likely be around for many years.

Was that your guess? :)

Good Luck
Roger

Guess I'm looking for a middle of the road motherboard. I'm just not sure where that is. I'm sure I'll figure it sometime this century.

The fastest AMD CPU gets beaten hands down even by the Intel I5s. For now AMD has removed themselves from the performance cpu market. their GPU's (ATI) are right now at the top of the heap.. NVidia is real close and closing again.
