With firefox it acts as though it's the first time using it as well, opening up the welcome page and my smartest bookmark add-on settings in one tab and smaxxi in another.

I tried fixing the obvious files (the ones with smaxxi in the name) but they simply recurred once I shut down and started up again. I unfortunately don't have a restore point to before the point where the homepage started appearing.
I have yet to perform a full system scan with my own virus software as it takes an incredibly long time and I've been frequently shutting down and restarting to see if any of the measures I have take have worked.
edit: also, I'm not sure if it's worth noting or not, but since my D drive is so much larger than my C drive, I save most of my files there, which includes Firefox.
Any help would be much appreciated.
