mac 10.6.8 on macbook pro [august 2010]

I know it's unlikely, but if Lion did correct what I personally see as a major flaw in the mac I would upgrade.

I was told my macbook pro would do multisession dvds & dvd-dls before I purchased it, but it really doesn't. I think I read that the mac will write/read a multisession if you are burning disk images, which has no relevance to my usage. My mac dvd drive is pretty much useless except for reading the backup data dvds I made on my windows machines - which I read through my winxp virtual machine since mac os will not read multisession dvds. I can't write to dvd thru my vm winxp tho. Mac's native dvd burning software is dark ages useless for doing regular data backups - even the one session backups.

OK, I'm still complaining. I'll shut up now.

Well as I see it some people say you should be able read the disc some say you can't. Also others say you should be able to write them as well as read them. As I only do backups of critically important files and docs in the cloud as well as a flash drive since I don't like DVDs seeing as they take up so much space and are considerably slower at data transfers. I haven't yet been able to try this. But as I said its really a hard thing to give a solid answer on.
