BleepingComputer.com: Windows Update Problem error 80096001

I am having a problem updating Windows. When I try to check for updates I get "Windows could not search for new updates" with the Code 80096001. Also, when I try to update my AVG it gets to "finishing update" and then freezes. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kevin.

Thanks Louis. I have tried the Fix WU utility. It states that it is fixing a problem, but the problem remains. It doesn't give any details unfortunately.
