BleepingComputer.com: Freezing shortly after startup

Hi, I hope I am posting in the right section, I've only ever used this site once before.

I use vista (home premium), and keep it all updated and antivirused etc, and I can't think of anything that has changed immediately before I started having this problem.

Two days ago, my laptop started freezing, and only a hard shutdown would allow me to do anything with it. It has now got to the point that it only functions for about ten minutes after startup, and then no matter what I am doing, or if I am not doing anything at all (i.e. even if I have no applications open), the computer will just freeze. Sometimes the mouse cursor freezes as well, sometimes it moves but I can't make it click anything. I can't open task manager while it is in this state.

The computer has become slow to open programmes, and I get a lot of 'not responding' in thunderbird and firefox, often just before a freeze. The computer itself is not that old, only just under three years.

Please help a clueless desperate person! I have no idea what's going on and no idea how to find out!

Same problem in Safe Mode?

Download and install SIW Multilanguage With Installer (SIW free version) (bottom of the screen)

Run the tool.
After it scans your computer, navigate to Hardware>Sensors and post all info from there.

Hi, thank you for your reply, so sorry I couldn't do the task immediately, I had a lot to do yesterday and wasn't sure I could cope with a temperamental computer too! For what it's worth, it has not frozen since I posted my initial plea for help, how typical!

But I have run the scan as you asked and have attached a screenshot of the readings you needed. Does this show anything significant? If it's important, the computer has been on and running for approx 36 hours.

Edit: yes, it was doing it in safe mode too, on Friday.

Temperatures look fine.

Please download VEW and save it to your Desktop: http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe

Double-click VEW.exe then under Select log to query, select:
Application
System

Under Select type to list, select:
Critical (Vista only)
Error

Click the radio button for Number of events
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

In Notepad, click Edit > Select all then Edit > Copy
Reply to this post, click in the reply window and press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log.

I'm trying this now, how long should it take? I have clicked 'run' and nothing is happening! I can't exit it to try again.

Are you doing anything in particular when laptop freezes?

Not usually, sometimes just clicking on a link through to another webpage in firefox is enough, at the end of last week just opening firefox or trying to update my antivirus did it, or just sitting looking at the screen!
