A search of the competer for "wmp716.dll" produces nothing.

Download, install, update and run MalwareBytes AntiMalware
Get the free version & run the complete scan.
See if it finds and removes anything.

I have several WMP*.dll files.......
If you cant find this file doing a search it may not be on your computer anymore OR IT IS HIDDEN.... Try searching with the search feature in REGSEEKER,this WILL SHOW IT even if it is being hidden in Windows Search....

Good luck!

Malwarebytes tuned up no infections; also ran RKILL before I rean MB.
Windows Media Player sounds plausable. But if this were true I would expect a Google search for "WMP716" to turn up something on that.
The file is not in C:\WINDOWS\wmp716.dll. It is not anywhere on my computer. I have done a search and set up my folders to show hidden files.
Here is some more info that may be relavant. I recently had the Zentron virus. While I was battling that infection, sometimes on reboot I would get the message "Unable to find WMP716.dll.". I finally removed the virus using the procedure outlined on this website. The message at startup went away. However it is strange that it is one of my Startup programsand also re-checked itself somehow (I had unchecked it previuosly). I am thinking it is probably unrelated to the virus problem?
It just seems strange that for a startup program there is no information online.

Or you can download and run Mike Lin's startup Control panel, find the entry, right-click on it and "delete"
