BleepingComputer.com: Control Panel Problem

A Dell 2400 with Win XP Home.
Minor problem - there's no Add/Remove Programs icon in my Control Panel.
I can access Add/Remove Programs with a right click on the programs icon on the desktop and clicking on the Delete in the pop-up window.
Any suggestions?

Note :- Removing the Desktop icon only removes the shortcut -
First try this ->
Try going into control panel and double click on Folder Options, click on the View tab, find the folder that says Hidden Files and Folders and select the radio button that says show hidden files and folders.
EDIT -
Next try this -->

• Click Start, and then click Run.
• In the Open box, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
• In the Command window, type regsvr32 mshtml.dll, and then press ENTER.
• Click OK to confirm that the registry entry has been added.
• In the Command window, type regsvr32 shdocvw.dll -i, and then press ENTER.
• Click OK to confirm that the registry entry has been added.
• In the Command window, type regsvr32 shell32.dll -i, and then press ENTER.
• Click OK to confirm that the registry entry has been added.
• Close the Command window.

ALRIGHT! The first item tripped the trigger!
And I thank you, Noknojon, for such a timely and succinct piece of advice.
It wasn't a major problem but it was nagging at me like a grain of sand under a toenail.
In your humble opinion should I go ahead and run the 'regsvr32...' entries or should I leave well enough alone?

The other ideas were if it was a registry problem, it was not - Glad it is working again -
