There are dangers in every walk of life in no matter what we do. yes this happenned, but on the other side, Russias safety practices then were, how do we put it delicatly, lacking? to say the least? and while Japans was bad, it wasnt near the catastrophe Russias was. Now, for your side, Japan has the safest nuclear power plants in the world, yet they still had an accident nonetheless. There are some risks, and rewards. Its like driving your car-statistically, your chances of dying in a car accident are far greater then a nuclear accident, yet I bet your still going to go get in your car tomorrow arent you?
