How much RAM installed?
How large is C? How much free space currently in C:?
From what I see...you have a number of programs installed...which could easily account for any delayed system response.
I would start with...diabling every unnecessary IE add-on that is installed...and removing the torrent program, if such is still installed.

To see the size of partitions/drives...Start/Run...type diskmgmt.msc and hit Enter. Post the info reflected for any hard drives, please.
To see what add-ons are installed...open Internet Explorer...click Tools/Manage Add-ons.

I don't have Vista and have never used it, but my comments are general and germane to Windows XP RAM/system performance issues. I believe they would apply to Vista.
My solution would be to increase the RAM installed to what the system max is...and/or uninstall programs like MS Office which can use a lot of system resources.

I don't see a 2GB module of RAM for that computer...you may have the wrong type, IMO.
As for the other problems you touch upon without providing any real, useful info...I cannot speculate beyond what I have done thus far.

Any onscreen error messages relating to your "problems".
Exact type of RAM module...msnufacturer, model, any descriptive data which appeared on packaging or module...and location you bought said module from.

Screen freezes for 5 - 20 secs very often. (not responding) message pops up. This happens when on the internet and off. Happens in all programs.
About 12 times a day I get kicked off line. Modem DSL light goes red. Takes 30 secs - 5 mins to re-establish Happens when ever.
Flipping back and forth beteween pages (any pgs/any program) takes 5 - 10 secs. Sometimes longer.
This stuff ONLY STARTED AFTER FOLLOWING "GRINGO's" INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN OFF AVG PROGRAM TO LOAD HIS PROGRAM AND RUN SOME TESTS!
Before that I only had what I thought was a 'slow' computer. Problems are much worse now.
ERROR MSGS
(not responding) I see ALL THE TIME.
MS Word shows 'Disk is full' when I try to exit after saving info.
No other error msgs I can remember.
Memory stick was purchased at Best Buy / Geek Squad counter. I gave them info they asked for about my computer and then went online to a website to check exactly what kind / make / type / manufacturer of stick I could / should get.
They told me things about the computer I already knew (max 1G stick) and other things I did not know. Memory stick is NOT THE PROB.
What else do you need to know?

But your problems sound as if your system needs a clean install.
Theoretically, a user can try a repair install or run the sfc /scannow command...but I would just do a clean install. My standard starting point when attempting to eliminate system problems that leave no clues and cannot be attributed to anything concrete.
The only concrete hints you've mentioned...involve the miniscule amount of RAM.
If your problems (aside from your malware troubles which Grindo took care of) initiated from the time of infection and the cleaning procedures...I would say that there is a fair chance that key system files are missing or damaged. It happens. A repair install or running the sfc /scannow command...may address that...may not.
