Forum Rules

When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

Hi I'm having difficulty removing a virus on my PC, although I'm not an expert I am somewhat computer savy. I have followed a few threads and implemeted the suggestions mentioned with no success. I have ran Malwarebytes, Adaware, superAntispyware, Combofix, Rkill, etc, Microsoft Security Essentials is installed as well.

Symptoms, Internet Explorer closes periodically. And even when it is not in use I can hear music from ads being played yet there are no applications open. When computer is unattended I will come back to one or two pop ups that have appeared.
Running XP with latest updates, Java is updated as well with older versions being deleted.
If anyone can help or point me in the direction to finally get the PC clean I would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to add that I'm being redirected when using google. And Internet explorer randomely shuts down and also pops up when i'm not at my PC(while connected to the internet). I have attempetd to follow the steps in some of the threads sregarding being redirected but they have not resolved the issues. Not sure if I'm missing a step or not doing something in the right order. I cannot seem to isolate where the virus or malicious content is hiding on the PC. What log files would one need to see to help uncover where the problem lies? Do I continue to post in this forum or another forum on this site to resolve issues? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,

I found your new topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic422149.html however, you neglected to post the DDS and GMER logs nor is there any indication that you tried to produce them. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you missed the preparation guide Broni linked to above. So to restate in a different way: please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then post them in a reply to your new topic, not this one, by using the Add Reply button.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the post and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the reply and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

Please note that I am not a member of the Malware Removal Team and will not be assisting you in removing the infection. I'm simply helping you to post the information they need in order to assist you.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
