sfc was interrupted several times (>10) by a popup: Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL cache. Insert your Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD now. (sometimes the popup specified Windows XP CD2)

I did not receive installation CDs when I bought this computer. The only thing I could do was Cancel. Suggestions? Thank you!

I suspected that some files were not the correct versions. Possibly when the Service Pack 3 was installed something when wrong.

Any way you can borrow a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD and Windows XP CD2.

Time for some housekeeping
The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold text into the Run box and click OK:

    ComboFix /Uninstall

Just remove the other tools we used.

I will leave this topic open for a few days.
If you have any question please ask.
