Posted Image When posting a log please put the type of infection you have in the topic title. IE: Winfixer, Virtumonde, WinTools, WebSearch, Home Search Assistant, etc.


Posted Image Do not bump your topic. We try to resolve logs on a first come/first served basis. By bumping your log you will be pushed back in line due to the new date of your bump.

Have you tried to complete the sfc /scannow steps with this CD?

I tried this once and it didn't work.I had to use the Windows cd as well.Will I try it again?I rebooted as well.

Have you attempted at any point to remove Internet Explorer from your computer? It sounds like some components are missing.

The only thing that will fix this is a Repair installation. However, if you do this with the CD you have now, ou may not be able to use your own product key, which is required for a repair installation.

The cd I'm using is the one that belongs to this computer.It has sp2 on it though!!!Can I ask why my key won't work?This is the original Windows cd that you would buy from a store.

Sorry, I misunderstood, and thought you borrowed the CD. :) In this case a Repair installation will work and I would definitely recommend doing that. See here for more information and steps.

The repair installation done the trick.It has done all of its updates and IE is working fine.I guess I should update to IE 8 as well?

I'm glad to hear that. Please let me know if you have any other problem left.
You can indeed update to IE8, even if you don't use it, its a much faster and better looking browser than IE6.

If you have no other questions/problems, this topic will be closed afterwards.
