Hello,

I was asked to start a new topic, I hope I am in the correct forum. After removing some malware my computer started to shutdown randomly, I talked to someone from geeksquad and they thought it could be a temperature thing, since the computer wouldn't allow itself to be turned back on for a minute or so. I cleaned up inside the computer but it didn't really help, then I cleaned it even further and tried to clean the fan on top of the motherboard (...I think it was the motherboard... the big red thing). I wasn't too successful, though, because of how hard it was to get at the fan, so I'm hoping for some guidance to help figure out whether it's just a dust thing, a power supply problem, or whatever else could be causing this.

Thankyou!
Certa

edit: Going to try to clean the inside of my computer a little more thoroughly, will respond shortly.

How did you remove the malware?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

We used a lot of things, I think the problem started right after using ComboFix, but then we unlocked some keys and everything was alright for about a week. I don't know if it's related, but I think the problem started again yesterday when I started charging my MP3 player. Is it possible for a virus to be on it and then go into my system?

Here is the topic in which m0le helped me with my malware:

edit: also, I removed a lot more dust from the fan over the big red thing (which I think is the motherboard). There is also a temperature thing on the outside of the computer that says 90 right now. Should I track what that says every hour or so, or use some kind of software that will track individual temperatures for different parts, or just hold off on that for a little while?

Would this computer be a custom made or an OEM like Dell or HP?

I would go here: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/G31M3-F-V2--3-Audio-Ports-.html and get the updates from there.

I got the liveupdate and did a scan and it said "Your mainboard BIOS/drivers/utilities are the latest version. There is no need to update."

Also, ever since cleaning the fan on top of my motherboard, it hasn't spontaneously shut down.
