Hello all,

Trying to install Malwarebytes onto a friends computer and I'm receiving this error message.

CoCreateInstance failed; code 0x800401154. Class not Registered.

Another strange thing that is happening is that I cannot start any programs from the desktop (i.e Skype, itunes), but word, pdf, jpegs are all ok and will load fine.

Any help I can get is most appreciated, if there is any other details I need to provide just let me know.

Thanks for your time

I have not seen that error with Malwarebytes before. You may want to report it to the Malwarebytes Support Team, ask in the Support Forums or E-mail the Malwarebytes Support Help Desk so the development team can investigate.

This means that a COM object or an ActiveX object could not be instantiated because it is not registered. Since you are mentioning other problems, it could be that this missing class is related to this. It sometimes happens when an uninstall removes too much.

There is a way to find out which class, but it's technical. How good are you at using ProcMon?
