Fresh install of windows XP, just a few extra programs installed (Avast, Acrobat Reader, Live Messenger, Jave, not even a firewall yet) Installed SP3 from the redistributable. Did some update after that just fine. Now IE crashes on windows update. I get "Checking to see if your computer has the latest version of updating software to use with his website." and crashes. IE for anything else works great. Just windows update causes it to crash. HELP!

8. However there is a new update. I had to hookup/turn on the computer to 2X check, and figured while its on, heck, why not try again. It installed a new ActiveX Control, and now its installing more updates.
I guess you can close this thread. I hate Microsoft.
